Convert driveway dimensions to loose material volume and estimated tonnage. Start with the published examples below, then use your own supplier quote for a delivered estimate.
Class II base — $60 per cubic yard
Material price. Advertised Class II base material price. Confirm gradation, suitability, density, and destination charges.
Delivery must be quoted for the jobsite; the supplier has a separate inquiry flow for 16+ cubic yards.

What to measure
Measure the driveway footprint in sections where width or finished depth changes.
Decide whether the entered depth describes finished compacted material or loose fill. Apply shrinkage only when converting from finished to loose volume.
Worked example: 30 ft × 10 ft × 4 in
30 × 10 × (4 ÷ 12) ÷ 27 = 3.7037 yd³; divide by 0.80, then multiply by 1.05.
5% waste · 20% shrinkage
Neat volume
3.7037 yd³
Volume with allowances
4.8611 yd³
Illustrative dimensions and allowances. Use your project specification and supplier’s product data. Quantities shown are before supplier rounding.
Included in this quantity
One aggregate layer with the entered shrinkage and waste assumptions.
Measure or price separately
Excavation, fabric, drainage, edging, other aggregate layers and compaction equipment.
Choose the specified product
Specify the aggregate grade for each layer. A base product containing fines is different from clean drainage stone. Confirm loose density and actual volume loss for the selected product.
Before booking the order
Identify whether the yard sells by volume or weight and verify the ton definition. Confirm payload limits, drop location and whether each layer needs its own delivery.
